Joseph G. Spivey graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in Political Science. As a senior at Vanderbilt, Joe received the Avery Leiserson Award for the best undergraduate paper in Political Science. Following college, he interned for United States Senator Saxby Chambliss. Joe earned his Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School. During his first year of law school, Joe won the 1L Intraschool Appellate Moot Court Competition. As a third-year student, Joe served as a Student Attorney for the Tulane Environmental Law Clinic, where he had the opportunity to represent indigent clients challenging construction permits granted to toxic chemical facilities in rural Louisiana. He also served as the Senior Business Editor for the Tulane Environmental Law Journal. Joe’s comment titled “Beyond Entergy Nuclear Vermont Yankee: Preserving Public Agency in Nuclear Regulation” was selected by his peers and faculty for publication in Vol. 25 of the Tulane Environmental Law Journal. During his two summers in law school, Joe clerked for the healthcare and medical malpractice defense firm, Allen, McCain & O’Mahony in Atlanta Georgia. Joe joined Speed, Seta, Martin, Trivett, Stubley & Fickling as a first-year associate and is licensed to practice law in the State of Georgia.
